MARSHALL LAUNCHES BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG’S 1959BJA ARTIST SIGNATURE AMP

When Billie Joe Armstrong stepped onto the stage with Green Day at the 2026 Super Bowl, fans and guitarists noticed something new behind him: a striking baby-blue Marshall head that sparked widespread speculation across the music world. Today, Marshall unveils its’ first artists signature amp in 14 years; the Billie Joe Armstrong 1959BJA Artist Signature inspired by one of punk rock’s most recognisable guitar tones.

Developed with Billie Joe Armstrong, the 1959BJA builds on Marshall’s legendary handwired 1959HW platform, refined with a custom “Dookie Mod” inspired by the tone shaped alongside producer Rob Cavallo during Green Day’s breakthrough era.

The result is a classic plexi with modern performance flexibility delivering increased gain, tighter lows and the saturated punch that brings Billie’s signature sound into a modern stage-ready format.

The design pays tribute to Billie’s first guitar, Blue, combining baby-blue covering with brass and silver panel details, custom branding and Billie’s signature on the front and back panels. Released as a head-only unit, it allows players to pair it with the cabinet of their choice.

Billie Joe Armstrong has been part of the Marshall family for many years, most recently appearing in the Monitor III ANC headphones campaign. The 1959BJA marks the next chapter in that relationship by bringing his tone into an official Marshall amplifier format.

“Billie Joe’s guitar sound is instantly recognisable,” says Steph Carter, Culture Marketing Director at Marshall. “From the moment you hear those opening chords on Dookie, you know exactly who it is. Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team.”

“I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp. These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!” says Billie Joe.
